Alone in the Dark Reboot is a psychological horror game set in the 1920s

Alone in PS5 Dark Reboot leaked ahead of THQ Nordic’s event today. We were expecting the game to make an appearance today following a match from known insider The Snitch, but it turns out it was a Belgian retailer who pulled the trigger prematurely and released a list of the PS5 version of the game on its website. Apparently, Alone in the Dark is based on the first game in the series and is a psychological horror experience set in the 1920s. The gothic horror setting of the southern United States is inspired by Lovecraft.

Alone in the Dark PS5 features two protagonists

Players can step into the shoes of Edward Carnby or Emily Hartwood to solve the mystery of the latter’s uncle’s disappearance. Carnby is a detective who works with Hartwood to locate the missing uncle in Derceto’s mansion, which happens to be a mental asylum. Something lurks in the darkness there, of course, and players need to figure out what’s going on.

Alone in the Dark is written by Mikael Hedberg, author of SOMA and Amnesia. An official preview reads:

This love letter to the cult 90s game will take you through a story as sinister as it is memorable through the eyes of one of the two protagonists. Play as Edward Carnby or Emily Hartwood, explore the different environments, fight monsters, solve puzzles and discover the terrible truth about Derceto’s mansion. You will encounter strange occupants, nightmarish kingdoms, dangerous monsters and uncover an evil plot. At the confluence between reality, mystery and madness, the adventure that awaits you risks undermining your certainties.

Stay tuned for THQ Nordic’s event later today, where we’ll likely have a trailer and release info.

In other news, it looks like Spotify is also getting a native PS5 app, and Blizzard is canceling Overwatch loot boxes.
