Columbia College Appoints New Dean of School of Humanities, Arts & Social Sciences

Columbia College has named Dr Jennifer Jewell as the next dean of the School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (HASS) following nationwide research.

Dr Jewell will take up her post on July 1, 2022 and Dr Sandra Hamar will continue to serve as the Acting Dean of HASS until then.

“Dr. Jewell’s in-depth experience in the various learning opportunities that we present here at Columbia College, particularly online degree offerings and our relationship with the military, make her the ideal candidate for this position. Columbia College Provost and Senior Vice President Dr. Piyusha Singh said in a statement. looking forward to seeing Dr. Jewell partner with departments on campus to increase enrollment and expand HASS programs. “

Jewell will oversee programs in the following academic departments: Criminal Justice Administration, History, Philosophy and Political Science; Education; Language and communication studies; Personal services, psychology and sociology; and Visual arts and music.

“The opportunity to be a part of the Columbia College community and to serve the students and faculty of the School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences is truly an honor,” Jewell said in the press release. “Throughout the interview process, I felt a sense of cohesion between the different team members I spoke with, which was encouraging.
